Carterton Outdoor Gallery Initially conceptualised by Wai Art Trustees, Anna-Marie Kingsley and John Gordon, over a glass of wine after a day of cruising around the Wellington exhibition circuit.   They were discussing the high cost of painting a professional mural on a wall and lamenting how there were very few artists that are capable of doing a mural outside, but how most artists can paint something like the Golden Shears sheep on plywood.  Suddenly they thought, "What we need are artworks that are painted on plywood that can be put up as a semi permanent gallery."   John got on the job, and arranged for 24 sheets of plywood from the very generous JNL.   We are aiming to have 24 artworks up by the time the Portrait Awards open in February 2011.
